Heiðarbær is a camping site, swimming pool and restaurant. Heiðarbær is open during the summer but advertises individual opening days and events during the winter on Heiðarbær's Facebook page.
Heiðarbær is located between Húsavík and Mývatn on road 87. It is close to many of the most popular tourist destinations in the northern part of the country, such as Ásbyrgi (40km), Jökulsárgljúfur (79km), Mývatn (33km), Goðafoss, (29km) Þeistareykir (49km) and Húsavík (20km ).
What Reykjahverfi has to offer
In walking distance of Heiðarbær is Hveravellir, one of the oldest horticultural stations in the country, where you can shop fresh vegetables on weekdays from 8-12 and 13-16. There is also Ystihver, the largest hot spring in the North.
